Last year, I started developing a town of saintly freaks for a novel called CURiOS CiTY • Now, thx to technological improvements, I’m testing it as a game
The first CURiOS CiTY neighborhood I’m tackling is Carnivarre • An odd district with weathered copper, crooked shopfronts & a tavern with a weird, but welcoming face • A place for food, quirky encounters & second chances
This is a small, character-first simulation game • You follow distinctive residents through their day, watch their plans collide & give the neighborhood an occasional nudge • A shared meal • A change in the weather • Something small that matters to someone
Where Production Stands:
There’s a very early browser/mobile prototype with residents, daily needs, food collection, cooking & saved progress • The Copper Maw tavern is in the game & the latest work adds market stalls & two eclectic shopfronts
Otto randomly leaves eggshells behind • I’m exploring how quirks like Otto’s can become useful to someone else
Next comes more visible life at the market: browsing, collecting goods & changing plans when the weather turns • I want players to understand what happened by watching it, not by reading a wall of text
*These character images come from actual 3D production work, including earlier model inspections and a layout test—not finished gameplay screenshots
Still early • But CURiOS CiTY: Carnivarre is starting to have a life of its own & I can't wait to share more
